Kamden Scores Career Best at Miami Valley Midwest Thunder Regional

Last weekend, Kamden and HMS competed at the Midwest Thunder Regional held at Miami Valley (Xenia, Ohio). In Saturday’s Light 160 heat race, Kamden got into a minor crash on the initial start. Unfortunately, that sent him to the back of the field (8th). Kamden was able to drive a great race, working his way back through the field, earning himself a 2nd place finish and a direct transfer into the Light 160 A-Main where he was slated to start P4. Unfortunately Saturday night's features ended up getting rained out.

With the disappointment of Saturday’s rainout came the excitement of yet another day of racing on Sunday. Kamden started the day off well by turning a 6th place starting position in his heat to a 3rd place finish. This placed him in the “B-Main where he started P2.

In the “B”, he got off to a great start eventually taking the lead and going on to win the race, setting himself up for a P7 starting spot in the Sr. Animal feature.

In the feature, Kamden’s race car was an absolute rocket. He battled up front for most of the race, spending most of his time in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. As the field was coming to the checkered a caution came out instead forcing the field into a one-lap shootout. On that final lap, the field bunched up and Kamden was able to squeeze a 2nd place finish. It was an amazing photo finish between the top 4 cars. Not only was he battling for the win but this was Kamden’s first regional podium finish since moving into the Sr. classes.

Congrats to Jacob Denny on the win and Kamden for an unbelievable weekend. Check out the attached photos highlighting our day, including the photo of the Sr. Animal finish.
