HMS Gets Off To Hot Start In 2018
After enduring a long few months away from the track, the off-season has finally passed. Last weekend, Kamden opened up his 2018 outdoor season at his home track in Obetz, Ohio by moving out of the jr. classes of last year and into the faster and more competitive classes of the sr./ light divisions. On April 21st, at BQMRA's track in Obetz, Kamden ran in the classes of Light 160 and Sr. Animal, both of which are significantly faster than last years engine specs. After taking a little while to get a hold of the new speeds and new demands on the driver, Kamden finished 2nd in both heats and 2nd in both features. A great way to start the outdoor season.
Last weekend, on April 29th, Kamden and HMS traveled to Miami Valley for their opening club race of the young season. Kamden finished both the Light 160 and Sr. Animal heat races in the runner up position and would eventually end up 2nd in Sr. Animal. The highlight of the day was in the Light 160 feature race where Kamden was 2nd for the majority of the race. After a late caution, the field took the green with 11 laps to go. Kamden got a great re-start and made a very aggressive pass for the lead and was able to hold off a fast and determined friend, Cole Morgan, for the first Light 160 feature win of Kamden's racing career. A day that was meant for some testing turned out to be a huge confidence booster for Kamden.
Positive mid-day adjustments to both cars were made and Kamden did the rest. Great job Hibbitt Motorsports and congrats to Kamden on your first Light 160 feature win.
