Kamden Runs Strong in Obetz
This past weekend, Kamden and Hibbitt Motorsports raced in two separate BQMRA club races at their home track in Obetz, Ohio.
On Saturday, Kamden won first place honors in the Jr. Animal class. Then in the Jr. Honda, Kamden got a great start, rocketing to the front of the field from the drop of the green flag. He held the top spot until he was passed on the final lap by fellow driver and friend, Austin Geer.
On Sunday, The Jr. Animal car was much the same. Kamden got out front early and never relinquished the lead, finishing P1 in the feature. In the Jr. Honda, Kamden started the feature P2 and worked incredibly hard, staying two-wide with the leader for several laps at the beginning of the race. Unfortunately, that ended up with him colliding with the outside retaining wall and sending him to the back of the field. Kamden then buckled down and passed the entire field before setting his sights on the leader. The final 18 laps were spent with Kamden slowly chasing down the leader and making a last corner attempt for the lead. The drag race to the line was as close as it could have been and Kamden ended up 2nd by about 4-6 inches. It was by far the closest race we have been a part of to date. Congrats to Austin Geer for winning both Jr. Honda features throughout the weekend. We'll take 2nd place finishes when the boys run that fast (and clean).
Huge regional and national races are coming up in the next two weeks. Stay tuned for updates and live-videos.
